So, you’re planning a summer wedding? I LOVE summer weddings because there’s so much extra daylight, plus golden hour just has an extra magical feeling in the summertime! Choosing wedding flowers for a summer wedding can be tricky because the options are pretty much endless! Still, you have to be mindful of delicate flowers like peonies and hydrangeas, as they can quickly wilt in the hot summer sun! Here are some of the top tips I’ve learned from being in the wedding industry for 10+ years, and some things to keep in mind when you’re planning your summer wedding florals.
When You Should Have Your Florals Chosen
Your wedding florist will probably tell you this, but it’s really important to have florals finalized one month before your wedding. Once you’ve nailed down your guest count and your chosen flowers, placing the floral order ASAP ensures you’ll get exactly what you want. Summertime is extremely busy for wedding vendors, and that includes flower farms! I’d definitely recommend hiring a florist to help you, especially if you’re looking for high-demand flowers. They’ll be able to source larger quantities of high-quality flowers due to their existing relationships with flower farms. If you need to make adjustments, or find some alternatives, it really helps to have a buffer of time (instead of a handful of days).
My Favorite Orange County Florists
If you’re still looking for an Orange County florist, I’ve worked with quite a few through the years and here are some of my favorites! Los Angeles Floral Couture is amazing! They’re an award-winning florist in the area, and their creations are truly breathtaking. Julep Bloom Design is another award-winning florist who’s so great to work with! Amne is an absolute perfectionist! She and her team will not stop until everything looks exactly how you dreamed it would! There are so many incredible florists in the Orange County area, so this is by no means a comprehensive list!
Summer wedding flowers come in SO many different shapes, colors, and sizes! There’s truly something out there for every wedding style! Some of my favorite summer florals are hydrangeas, peonies, ranunculus, garden roses, and orchids!
