When Lyndsi & Matt first reached out to inquire about their wedding day photography coverage and we FaceTimed, I knew these two were some of the sweetest people and were perfect for each other.
After they booked (yay! I was SO excited), we started to plan for their engagement session a year before their wedding date, to give them enough time to have photos to celebrate the engagement, send save the dates, create decorations, etc.
They wanted Joshua Tree, California for their engagement session. We went on a September evening and was expecting it to be over 100 degrees, since that is what the weather app was telling us. When we got there, it felt beautiful!! It felt more like 75 degrees with a slight breeze.
We ended up having some clouds, which probably helped with the weather, but it didn’t stop them from receiving some light & airy photos. We actually ended up having some gorgeous glow to some of their photos!
Joshua Tree is one of my favorite locations to shoot at. It is so different from other areas in Southern California. The backdrop, the desert light we receive every time I shoot there is amazing, and it’s a little getaway. 🙂
Going back to how sweet these two are, an example is how they reacted to an outfit “malfunction.” Most couples have two outfits for their engagement session. A more dressed up style of one and then one casual. So, they wanted to do just that. Matt ended up forgetting a bag that had Lyndsi’s pants in it for their second outfit and instead of getting upset, Lyndsi had an easy going, go-with-the-flow attitude and gave Matt so much grace and forgiveness. Luckily they still had their matching white converse and even more luck, Lyndsi had another dress to wear. Which actually still looked so cute together!
I hope you all enjoy this Californian desert engagement session as much as I do! 🙂
