Why stick to the status quo when planning your engagement photoshoot? Instead, add a splash of personality to your engagement photos & make them even more memorable. I know personalizing your engagement photos or straying from what’s typically expected can sound intimidating. You may be wondering how you can customize your engagement photos without taking the emphasis off of your engagement. Fortunately for you, I have tons of ideas and a LOT of experience working with couples to make their engagement photos picture perfect.
Revisit a Significant Location
One of my favorite suggestions for personalizing your engagement photoshoot is to choose a location significant to you and your partner! Choosing a location that holds significance in your relationship is a super easy way to infuse your photos with some personality. Did you meet your fiancé while you were both out surfing? Let’s do our photoshoot at the beach! Did you share your first kiss at a baseball game? Let’s shoot at the baseball stadium! Revisiting these locations will not only personalize your engagement photos, but it will also make them even more meaningful. And, it will allow you to revisit those adorable, nostalgic memories before the wedding.
Don’t Forget the Props
One of my favorite ways to personalize engagement shoots for my couples is to bring in things you both love! Props can be the perfect way to highlight shared hobbies and areas of interest. For instance, if you both love to hit the skate park, why not bring those rollerblades along? If you have a beloved pet dog, bringing them with you is a great way to add some life and color to the session. Not to mention, having your furry bestie along with you will elicit some adorable candids! A favorite food or restaurant, a sports team you both root for, or a pastime you love to share with each other are also all great things to discuss as you book your engagement session. The goal of your engagement photos is to tell a story about you and your relationship. You are unique individuals and your love story is unique, too! Pulling in these details that make you who you are as a couple is the best way to tell that story.
