Wow, I feel like I am on a streak with all these sessions at the beach that I am catching up here on the blog! haha!
Anyways, as a creative and having a business based on being creative, things can be put under pressure. I handle pressure pretty well, when it comes to my business and photographing my clients, but during the busy season, I feel like I am doing the same thing over and over again. Which then has me feeling in a rut.
This summer I wanted to have a little refresher. I was comparing myself to others, feeling defeated, and run down. As the season was going, I knew I wanted to get some friends together for a photo session just to hang out and shoot for myself, but it took me weeks to put it together.
I finally caved in the middle of a work out and reached out to my sweet friend, Cassidy. We then made it happen within just a few days! I’ve known Cassidy since freshman year in high school and met her boyfriend, Dillon, at a friend’s get together a few years ago. With us not seeing each other in awhile and I wanted the session at the beach, I knew these two would be the perfect fit. Cass & Dillon spend tons of time at the beach and it was only fitting that they took the spot. Plus, I wanted to see them and catch! I mean, double date at the beach? David and I hanging out an capturing them while they get to have fun with their photos taken? Sounds like a perfect summer evening! hehe!
With it being a Sunday evening, during the summer, and at the beach, I knew the beaches would be crowded. So, I wanted something a little more small, intimate, and workable. We arrived to Little Corona Del Mar Beach in Corona Del Mar, CA it was crowded more than I expected. We got to work around the beach crowd and other photographers, but you wouldn’t even guess when looking at their photographs. As time passed and walking around, we got the chance to have a little bit more private area to work with.
David and I left the session and I turned to him in the car saying, “This is exactly what I needed!” We then got home and I started to edit and yelled for him to get into the office. I was on fire with excitement and couldn’t stop showing him all the photos. Ever since their session, I’ve been feeling so much better shooting again. I no longer feel like I’m in a rut, once that camera is up to my face, and I have my fire back!
I definitely over shot this session, but I am not complaining at all. Though, you do have a lot of photos to go through for this blog post! 😉
Thank you SO much to Cassidy & Dillon for helping me feel the spark again and why I do this job. You helped make it so much fun with the belly laughs we shared, catching up, and being my models in the prettiest of light!
XOXO,
